The Iowa Great Lakes

The main attractions of the Okoboji area are the glacier-carved lakes.  The Iowa Great Lakes include Iowa´s largest natural lake, Big Spirit Lake, and then there are five other lakes that are inter-connected:  West Lake Okoboji, East Lake Okoboji, Minnewashta, Upper Gar and Lower Gar.

WINTER

The winter months provide excellent ice fishing. Golf courses become cross country skiing trails, and snowmobiling is even better on an ice covered lake, especially during the annual Winter Games. This event takes place the last week of January each year and activities include a Fireworks display and Burning of the Greens as well as the more challenging events of Broomball and Softball on Ice. But the best event has to be the Polar Plunge.  If you haven´t been seen it you wouldn´t believe it!
